Testimonials

Play Therapy & School Support

“We sought Play Therapy support because our child was experiencing some difficulties with confidence, emotional expression and managing worries…. Our daughter had Play Therapy and we had Parent & School Support. Zöe connected very well with our child. She was gentle, patient and warm, which helped our child feel safe and comfortable during the sessions. Our child was happy to attend Play Therapy and appeared to trust Zöe. Over time, she became more open and willing to express herself. We have seen positive improvements in our child’s confidence, emotional awareness and ability to express her feelings. She has become more willing to share her thoughts and ideas, and we have noticed improvement in how she manages worries and interacts with others. She also seems more comfortable communicating in different situations. Zöe provided helpful guidance and reassurance to us as parents. The support helped us better understand our child’s feelings and needs, and gave us more confidence in supporting her at home with patience, encouragement and emotional connection.

The school observations and support were very helpful. They allowed Zöe to better understand our child in the school environment and provided useful insight into how she was coping socially and emotionally. It was also helpful for the school to be aware of her needs and to support her in a consistent way. We have received positive feedback that our child has become more confident and more willing to share ideas. There has also been improvement in her social confidence and her ability to engage with a broader group of classmates. We are very grateful for the care, patience and professionalism shown throughout the Play Therapy sessions. Zöe created a safe and nurturing space for our child, and we believe the support had a positive impact on her emotional wellbeing and confidence. We sincerely appreciate the support provided to both our child and our family.”

Play Therapy & School Support

“We received Play Therapy & School Support from Zöe because our 7-year old son struggled to process his emotions. He felt safe and secure in sessions. After receiving play therapy we noticed better patterns of emotional regulation, more self-confidence
and happier relationships. Zöe taught me techniques to support my son at home.

Zöe, your guidance has not only helped our child navigate big emotions but has also brought peace back to our household. Thank you very much!”

Communication through Connection (Selective Mutism support)

“The child was always very happy to go and meet Zöe for her sessions. She would independently go and would confidently check in with me when she returned after the session to see what she needed to do next. She is communicating her needs and wants using longer, more descriptive sentences. She is communicating more frequently with me. She is often seen to be chatty and animated when with close friends and now seems more relaxed when communicating with trusted adults in school. As the sessions started later this academic year I imagine tools would be provided to the next teacher as Zöe and the child have now had the time to form a relationship. It was a positive move for the child and I hope the family continues it next academic year as it is an important part of her development.”

Play Therapy, home & school support

“Zöe connected exceptionally well with our son, she had already built a trusting relationship with him as a teacher, which made the transition into play therapy very natural. He felt safe, understood, and comfortable with her, and she connected with him in a way that encouraged him to express himself openly and talk about his feelings.

Our son always looked forward to his play therapy sessions. He was happy and enthusiastic to attend, and he enjoyed the time he spent with Zöe. The sessions became a positive and reassuring part of his week, and he always came away feeling calm and supported. Since starting play therapy, he has become much more confident in expressing his thoughts and feelings. We've noticed improvements in his emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence, both at home and at school. He seems happier, more settled, and better able to cope with challenges. The trusting relationship he developed with Zöe has had a very positive impact, and we've seen him grow in confidence and self-belief over the course of the sessions. Zöe was always approachable and supportive, taking the time to discuss his progress and offering practical strategies that we could use at home. She helped us better understand his emotions and behaviours, and provided reassurance and guidance on how to respond in ways that supported his emotional development. Her communication was open, thoughtful, and always focused on our son’s wellbeing.

The school support was extremely helpful. Having Zöe’s understanding of our son in both the classroom and play therapy settings meant she had a well-rounded perspective of his needs. The observations and feedback she shared gave us valuable insights and helped ensure there was consistency between school and home, which made a real difference to his progress. Since attending play therapy, we've received positive feedback from both school and family members about our son's increased confidence, emotional maturity, and ability to manage his feelings. He seems more resilient, communicates more openly, and is better able to navigate challenges and friendships. We've noticed he is happier, more settled, and more willing to talk about his emotions. We are incredibly grateful to Zöe for the care, patience, and support she has shown him. The trusting relationship she built with him has had a lasting positive impact, and we truly appreciate everything she has done to help him thrive. Our son wishes he was still working with her and often thinks of her as having a great positive impact. Thank you!”

Mentorship

“I met Zöe through Play Therapy Hong Kong after reaching out for support with a child in my early years classroom who was experiencing behavioural and emotional regulation challenges. Over the six months that we worked together, Zöe provided invaluable guidance on creating a more inclusive classroom and developing regulation strategies—not only for the children in my care, but also for myself.

With Zöe’s support, I introduced a wide range of strategies informed by evidence-based programmes and practices. These helped make my classroom both physically and emotionally safer. Most importantly, my relationship with the child blossomed as I learned to understand his needs and co-regulate with him in a compassionate and responsive way.

Zöe’s mentorship also extended beyond my classroom practice. During this process, I discovered that I am a late-diagnosed autistic woman with ADHD. Zöe supported me in navigating this deeply personal experience with compassion, sensitivity, and affirmation.

Zöe is highly experienced, compassionate, neuro-affirming, and exceptionally attuned to the people she supports. Her mentorship has had a lasting impact on both my professional practice and my understanding of myself. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to educators and other professionals seeking thoughtful, inclusive, and evidence-informed guidance.”

Creative Clinical Supervision

As a Therapeutic Play trainee completing my clinical placement under The Education University of Hong Kong, I have had the privilege of working under Zöe’s guidance for the past 10 months. She has taught me various strategies suited to different clinical situations and individual client needs.

During supervision sessions, Zöe creates a space where I feel completely accepted and supported. She balances encouragement with active challenges that push me to learn and expand my skill set. When I first began my placement, I carried a lot of anxiety and doubted my clinical decisions. She always reassured me that I was on the right path. Whenever I felt stuck, she always reminded me about Axline’s core child-centered principles, which helped me trust the therapeutic process and step into the playroom with true confidence.

Zöe connects theoretical concepts with realistic, real-world examples rather than just citing textbook responses. She is an outstanding mentor in child-centered work. I highly recommend Zöe to any play therapist trainee or student seeking a supervisor who will ground their practice, challenge their thinking, and help them thrive.
